TopListedVPNs was born out of two very specific frustrations: blocked TV shows and unsafe coffee shops.
The "Not Available" Problem
We are keen travelers. There is nothing worse than settling into a hotel room after a long flight, opening your laptop to watch a show from home, and seeing that dreaded error message: "This content is not available in your location."
Whether it is accessing BBC iPlayer from a beach in Spain or checking a UK bank account from a cafe in Thailand, we realized that the internet is not as open as it claims to be. We needed a reliable way to digitaly travel home, and we spent years testing different tools to find the ones that actually work.
The "Evil Twin" WiFi Trap
The second reason this site exists is security. As remote workers, we often rely on public WiFi in airports, train stations, and cafes.
Many people do not realize that hackers often set up fake WiFi networks in busy places. They might name their network "Free_Airport_WiFi" to trick you into connecting. Once you connect, they can intercept everything you do, including your passwords and emails.
We created TopListedVPNs to explain these risks in plain English. We want to show you how a simple app can encrypt your connection, making you invisible to these attacks.
Our Mission
The world of cybersecurity is full of confusing jargon. Our goal is to cut through the noise. We do not write for computer scientists; we write for regular people who just want to stay safe and watch their favourite movies.
Every VPN listed on this site has been tested by us personally. If an app is hard to use or slows down our connection, we do not recommend it.
